Set in a 15th-century palace overlooking Palazzo Vecchio, the Bernini Palace has a unique place in Italian history: when Florence was the capital of the Kingdom of Italy (1865–1870), it was the favourite meeting place of members of parliament. The frescoed roundels of that time still decorate the Sala Parlamento.
